Great Autumn Event

What a great Autumn 2012 Event we had!

Thanks to all of the yarn crawlers who made their way across the Triangle to visit our wonderful local yarn shops.

We enjoyed meeting everyone who attended the Crawl Kickoff at Warm ‘n Fuzzy bright and early Saturday morning. We had quite the spread with tasty breakfast treats donated by Blue Moon Bakery & Cafe  (the pumpkin bread was delicious!), mimosas from Lynda with Chambers Arts and more baked goods provided by crawl organizers. Attendees were greeted with a Triangle Yarn Crawl project bag and an extra raffle ticket if they were wearing pink in support of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Thanks to our wonderful yarn shops who put together great promotions, inspiring demonstrations, and raffle prizes full of goodies, which attracted over 65 crawl participants. Congratulations to all of our LYS Raffle Prize winners!

Inside we have handspun yarn and a knitted scarf pattern from Henceforth Yarns, a zipper case for accessories from Carolina FiberFest, Cubics ergonomic needles by Knitter’s Pride, a colorful lamb print by Ken McNeill, and a beautiful silk needle case and more needles from Lantern Moon.

A huge thanks to our Sponsors, Rebecca Hart with Warm ‘n Fuzzy for hosting the Crawl Kickoff and TYC Organizers Michelle, Jessica, Gail & Martha who made this event possible. We couldn’t have pulled it off without their support. THANK YOU!

Crawl Inspiration

When I organized my first yarn crawl I decided to make an entire day out of the event. And what better way than to start off with a healthy breakfast to share with my fellow newbie crawlers. I designed a menu around breakfast items I enjoy the most like yogurt with fresh fruit and granola, lemon poppyseed muffins, pineapple coffee cake and more deliciousness.

Why not put together a special menu for your fellow crawlers and start your crawl weekend off right? Or join us for the Crawl Kickoff and put together a brunch menu for Sunday.

Carpool Sign

Nowadays even more people are concerned about their impact on the Earth. We each do our own part by recycling, taking the bus, riding our bikes and carpooling to work and community events. Why not save money and have tons of fun by carpooling with friends during the next yarn crawl?

Here are a few tips to get you started:

Determine if you’ll split the cost. Sharing the driving among fellow crawlers eliminates the need for money to change hands especially if you rotate drivers for each yarn crawl. If not, decide how much each rider will pay. Be sure to consider gas and parking costs.

Agree on a driving schedule and departure time. Exchange cell phone numbers prior to the crawl. Be courteous by giving your carpool a call if you’re going to be late.

Decide where to meet and make sure it is convenient for everyone in your carpool.  If you can’t meet at someone’s home, try finding a central location to park.

Get permission to park if you decide to leave cars at a grocery store, shopping center, church or other public places. You could also use one of the many Park-and-Ride lots throughout the Triangle that carpoolers can use for free!

Quite a few Triangle Yarn Crawl enthusiasts visit all participating local yarn shops to experience what each shop has to offer including promotions, demonstrations, yarn selection, inspiring classes and more. Are you not quite up for an all-weekend trek across the Triangle and back – why not slow down for a bit? Bring your knitting or crochet along and take some time to rest your tired feet. Many of the Triangle yarn shops have comfy seating available for those individuals who want to take some time to enjoy the excitement while meeting new friends.

No matter how you decide to spend your yarn crawl weekend, be safe and have fun!

Crawl Kickoff

Let’s kickoff the 3rd Triangle Yarn Crawl right by welcoming Warm ‘n Fuzzy, the newest local yarn shop in the Triangle-area, to the mix on Saturday, October 13th from 9-10am.

Mingle with fellow crawlers. Share your crawl wish list. Fuel your crawl weekend with baked goods, coffee and more. And we’ll have surprises for those who attend.

Rebecca and her staff will be available to show crawlers around the shop, answer questions and help with purchases.

Wear pink to the Crawl Kickoff to celebrate National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and receive one additional raffle ticket to enter into the LYS raffle prize drawing of your choice.

We’ll have the Special Drawing raffle prize on display so get your sneak peak in and  see if you’re up for the challenge. Just remember to have your Crawl Passport stamped at all nine participating yarn shops and turn it in at the last shop you visit to be automatically entered into the drawing.

We’d like to thank Lynda with Chambers Arts for providing mimosas AND Blue Moon Bakery & Cafe for providing yummy breakfast treats. Check them out this weekend and say thanks!

We hope to see you there!
