1) What is a yarn crawl?

A “yarn crawl” is a multi-day event for yarn and fiber lovers connecting them to local yarn shops within a specific area or city. Yarn crawl participants are encouraged by their local yarn shops to develop a self-guided itinerary for a weekend of exploration and fun.

Over the multi-day period, multiple local yarn and knit shops participate in the yarn crawl and offer up store discounts, give away free exclusive patterns, provide classes, trunk shows and conduct raffles for prizes.

2) Does it cost anything to participate?

Attendance is absolutely FREE. Of course, yarn and other items in the shops are very tempting to purchase, but purchase is NEVER mandatory.

3) When exactly does the Yarn Crawl begin?

The crawl takes place during normal business hours and starts on Saturday and ends on Sunday; see the homepage for the dates of the current crawl. Keep in mind that some shops may only be open Saturday or Sunday, so please consult the Shops page for locations and hours when planning a route.

4) How do I participate in the raffle?

Participants must be present at each shop to get passport stamped. One passport per participant.  Passports will only be stamped during yarn crawl days and hours as stated on the Passport. Passports are non-transferable. Raffle prizes are donations gathered by the Yarn Crawl Organizers and are not necessarily affiliated with the local yarn shops.

5) Is it free to enter the raffle?

Yes. Every participant is entitled to one FREE raffle ticket from each store they visit (one raffle ticket per participant per store over the course of the entire weekend). Additional raffle tickets cannot be purchased.

6) How will raffle prize winners be notified?

Each shop will draw a raffle prize winner at the close of the yarn crawl and contact the winners.

7) If I win, how do I get my raffle prize?

Each lucky winner will be responsible for picking up his/her raffle prize at the shop. Raffle prizes must be picked up within 14 days of contest or prize will be forfeited and an alternate winner will be notified. Identification may be required to claim prize.

8) How do I participate in the Grand Prize drawing?

Have your Crawl Passport stamped/initialed at all participating local yarn shops during yarn crawl days and hours as stated on the Passport. Leave your Passport at the last shop you visit to be eligible to win the Grand Prize.

9) If I win the Grand Prize, how do I get my prize?

One lucky winner will be drawn from the qualifying Passports and notified by a Triangle Yarn Crawl organizer. The winner and organizer will determine the best way to deliver the prize. The Grand Prize winner must respond within 72 hours of being notified or the prize will be forfeited and an alternate winner will be notified.

10) How do I participate in the Crawl Kickoff?

The Crawl Kickoff takes place on the Saturday morning of the crawl, see the homepage for exact dates, location, and times. Everyone is welcome! We’ll have breakfast goodies and surprises for those who attend.

11) Who are the sponsors?

Our generous Sponsors are the shop owners (we love independent local shops), yarn manufacturers and local designers/artists. They are proud of what they sell and/or produce and are excited to share their products with you.
